Charlotte Area Transit System IFAC Grant Application

InfraStrategies supported CATS with the development of a grant application for the USDOT Build America Bureau’s Innovative Finance and Asset Concession (IFAC) program which provides funding to localities to explore and advance financing and delivery approaches, including public private partnerships (P3s) to enhance existing assets. CATS pursued this grant to advance services and tasks to leverage funding and financing options for the Gateway Station transportation hub. The Charlotte Gateway Station is part of a large-scale transit and transit-oriented development project to integrate transportation, residential and commercial retail which would connect the Red Line commuter rail, Silver Line light rail, Gold Line streetcar, transit and commercial bus lines with the relocated Amtrak station on the western side of Uptown Charlotte.  CATS was successfully awarded IFAC grant funding for technical assistance to hire consultants to conduct an asset scan and to consider innovative financial strategy for the asset including USDOT TIFIA loans.
